Applications open for the NETFA Leadership Program 2022 

After an overwhelming response to the call for Expressions of Interest, MCWH has opened an application process for a paid, national leadership program for people from communities and countries affected by Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting / Circumcision.

What is NETFA? 

NETFA stands for the National Education Toolkit for Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting / Circumcision Awareness.

The NETFA Leadership Program is coordinated by the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health with support from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s Office for Women.

What is the NETFA Leadership program about? 

The NETFA Leadership Program is an opportunity for people who want to help lead positive change in their communities and bring an end to the practice of FGM/C globally.

Who is this program for? 

There are 12 places available for people from all around Australia.

We are looking for people who:

  • Come from communities where FGM/C is practiced
  • Are passionate about ending FGM/C in the communities they are a part of
  • Are open to learning in a diverse group environment

This program is open to:

  • People across Australia
  • All ages and genders
  • Both community members and professionals

What will I learn about?

  • Deep understanding about the complex issue of FGM/C
  • Leadership skills
  • Communication and public speaking skills
  • Podcast / video / digital storytelling skills

How much does it cost? 

The program is free! As a participant, you will be paid a casual, part-time salary of $45 per hour plus superannuation and WorkCover.

When and where will the program take place?

Weekly, 2 hour sessions from April – October 2022. Online.

How do I apply?

Applications open on 06 February 2022 the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting / Circumcision.
