NETFA: Webinars on FGM/C

Throughout 2022-2024, NETFA is hosting a series of webinars with our national partners across Australia, to exchange knowledge on the latest research and efforts to end FGM/C as well as support communities affected by FGM/C, in the Australian context.

You can find the webinars on the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health YouTube channel.

A note about language used to describe FGM/C

In some countries, communities and cultures around the world, Female Genital Mutilation or Cutting has been performed on women and girls for centuries.  Depending on which country you come from you may know this practice as Female Genital Cutting, Female Circumcision, Traditional Cutting, Ritual Female Surgery or Female Genital Mutilation.

Getting advice and support

If you, or someone you know, have experienced FGM/C, this website can provide you with information about health issues it can cause and where to go to find suitable support services in Australia.  Those services will be able to assist with a range of medical procedures, referrals to other appropriate services, help you to access counselling, or provide sexual and reproductive health information.

You can also hear and read others’ stories of their own experiences and access a variety of resources including factsheets and publications in several languages.
